| Don's latest article about differences in ground, brings up issues in my area. The CO sits in one power company's area and the outside plant shows up in 2 other electric company's service area. As our DSL speeds become faster and pairs will be bonded, is everyone's ground the same? Or are the nightmares coming in the future? |

I would think it would be the same precautions as with a single power company..
There's always some return path current flowing on our sheilds and strands, and as long as we have proper bonding and grounding (as well as pair isolation from the ground/sheath) then any a/c should be rejected by the pair twists (common mode).
I had been missing Dons columns, I guess with ksloan taking some time off from the forum, theyre not getting posted over here.
We can still read them over at the OSPMagazine site though, at
