I was quit impressed by the SK-Plus. What Tempo-Greenlee has done here is added a TDR and the Resistive Bridge. Now naturally I'm going to compare it to the big hitters out there, 3M 965DSP and 965AMS then Sunrise ACM, JDSU, Cable Shark, these are just a few meters out there, and then I took readings using a resistive bridge simulator I use when I teach and they are right on with it.
Now the TDR I was bit surprised that it was right their with these same meters too. Their are lots of other neat little features on this meter too. You can use single pair, dual pair, split pair and so on.
This is the Side Kicks big brother just modified and simplified for the user. It has F (keys) for functions, and up, down, right, and left scroll arrow keys in the center of the number pad. It has the back light, use it sparingly, like all back lights it will eat up your battery.
I'm not sure on the cost, but I'm NOT a salesmen either though. I have to stay totally neutral when writing and passing judgment. Just passing on information for you folks. I haven't wrote much lately but that will change now. Side Kick has been a very reliable meter for years, and they have made improvements during this time.
It's your call spend your money wisely.
Just remember when you buy any test set know what you want the meter to do first, then make a educated decision on whats the biggest bang for your buck.
If you need help or not sure what to buy, we can make some suggestions, so feel free to contact me or Don. |
